The story picks up where Invincible left off, with Evie drowning in San Francisco Bay. Marcus finds her just in time, but forbidden from seeing her by her parents, he learns of a pain that might break him, spiraling into darkness as the loss of Evie tangles with the earlier loss of his mother and brother, forcing him to face his past.
