Mo, known as the Bluejay, tries to help Dustfinger, who is in the realm of the dead, when he is confronted by Death itself. Death demands Mo give her the Adderhead's life he took when he bound the White Book, or she will take his and Meggie's lives, while Resa is expecting a child and Meggie struggles with feelings for Farid and Doria.
