About “Flight Identification of Raptors of Europe, North Africa and the Middle East”
Flight Identification of Raptors of Europe, North Africa and the Middle East is a 2016 field guide by Dick Forsman, a Finnish ornithologist. It is part of the Helm Identification Guides series and aims to help readers identify raptors in flight. This is Forsman’s second book on raptor identification, following The Raptors of Europe and the Middle East from 1999, which focused on perched birds. Unlike the earlier work, this guide includes North Africa and covers over 60 species, including rare vagrants to the Western Palearctic. The book is a photographic guide with an introduction, two essays from other authors, species descriptions, and discussions of common hybrids that can complicate identification.
