About “Death of a liar”

Sergeant Hamish Macbeth is alarmed to receive a report from a woman in the small village of Cronish who says she has been brutally attacked, but he discovers she was lying about the crime. When the same woman calls again about an intruder, he marvels at her compulsion to lie, but this time she is telling the truth, and her body is later found in her home.
