Set in an uncertain near-future marked by new boundaries drawn between people daily, this genre-bending story follows two children and a horse in a not-very-brave new world. Taking its title from a Scottish word meaning a transient moment, a shock, a faint glimpse, it explores how and why people endeavour to make a mark on the world against forces that would reduce them to predictable data.
