Based on the blockbuster Xbox game, this novel tells the story of the men and women who saved a planet from destruction but now face the consequences of their actions. After a fifteen-year war, the Coalition of Ordered Governments destroys their last city, Jacinto, to stop the Locust Horde. Survivors flee into an icy wilderness, where they must fight the remaining Locust and deal with a lawless new world. Marcus Fenix, Dom Santiago, and their fellow Gears struggle to lead refugees to safety, but the greatest threat comes from desperate and dangerous humans.
