The great Persian poet Hafez is highly revered in Iran, where many families keep his Divan nearby. For about fifteen years, American poet Robert Bly collaborated with Islamic scholar Leonard Lewisohn to create a translation that reflects Hafez's wit, humor, and wide-ranging thoughts, as well as his love for poetry. This translation allows English readers to understand the depth of Hafez's talent as a ghazal poet, a significant contribution to world poetry. A 2009 novel by Claudia Gray is also mentioned.
