About “The Gates of Sleep”
Mercedes Lackey's 2002 novel re-imagines the story of Sleeping Beauty as a dark and enchanting Edwardian fantasy. The story follows Marina, the beloved daughter of the wealthy Roeswood family, who practice Elemental Magic. Her parents receive ominous warnings that Marina will be killed before her eighteenth birthday by the hand of her own aunt. The novel is part of Lackey's body of work inspired by fairy tales.
