About “Eagle's Prey”
In 44 AD, the Roman legions are deep in their campaign against the British tribes. General Plautius faces pressure from the emperor to end the conflict. Centurions Macro and Cato serve under the Second Legion, commanded by Centurion Maximus. Their mission is to hold a ford across the river Tamesis, but Maximus fails at the crucial moment, allowing the enemy leader Caratacus to escape. In response, General Plautius orders the decimation of the unit. Faced with death or flight, Macro and Cato flee, joining a small group of fugitives. They must find a way to redeem themselves before being hunted down by both the Romans and the Britons. This is the setting of Simon Scarrow's 2004 novel.
