About “Counterparts”
Farrington is an alcoholic scrivener who fails to complete a task at work and is scolded by his boss. Instead of finishing his work, he goes for a beer and is scolded again. His day worsens when he is humiliated at a local pub. Upon returning home, he finds his wife at chapel and his dinner unprepared. The story is part of Dubliners by James Joyce.
