Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days is a novel written by Jeff Kinney, an American author and cartoonist, and is the fourth book in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series. It was published in Canada on September 13, 2009, and in the United States on September 20, 2009. The story follows Greg Heffley, the series' narrator, during his summer break between seventh and eighth grade. A film adaptation of the book was released on August 3, 2012, and was based on the novel as well as its predecessor, The Last Straw.
