This 2001 novel by Jean Little, part of the Dear Canada series, is told through the diary of ten-year-old Victoria Cope. It follows the arrival of Mary Anna, one of thousands of impoverished British children sent to Canada, who joins the Cope family as a servant while coping with the family's initial apprehension and the loss of her brother Jasper.
