About “The Road to Jerusalem”
The book follows Arn Magnusson, born in 1150 to a noble family in the Kingdom of Western Gotaland. After surviving a fall from a parapet, his mother fulfills a promise made in prayer, sending him to a monastery to serve God. At Varnhem monastery, Arn is educated by Father Henri and trained by Brother Guilbert, a former Knight Templar. His skills with horses, swords, and bows set him apart. When he returns home, his monastic habits clash with his family's traditions. He becomes involved in political turmoil after a king's murder and meets Cecilia. His naivety leads to a mistake that sends him to the Holy Land for twenty years of battle. The story spans from Northern Europe to the Middle East, covering themes of power, faith, and love. It is the first book in the Crusades Trilogy.
