Three Parts Dead is a 2012 novel by Max Gladstone. It follows Tara, a first-year associate at the international necromantic firm Kelethres, Albrecht, and Ao. She is tasked with resurrecting Kos, the fire god of Alt Coulumb, after his death causes the city's steam generators to fail and its trains to stop. Without Kos, the city's four million citizens face chaos. Tara's only ally is Abulard, a chain-smoking priest of the dead god, who is struggling with a crisis of faith. When they discover Kos was murdered, they must uncover the truth in Alt Coulumb's courts. Their investigation threatens their partnership, their lives, and the city's survival.
