Thirteen-year-old Vladimir Tod hates junior high, facing bullies, a dogging principal, and a crush who prefers his best friend. His mother was human but his father was a vampire, and with no idea of the extent of his powers, Vlad struggles daily with blood cravings and enlarged fangs while a substitute teacher questions him too closely and a vampire killer begins hunting him.
