About “Ylana of Callisto”
Ylana of Callisto is a science fantasy novel by American writer Lin Carter, the seventh in his Callisto series. It was first published in paperback by Dell Books in October 1977. The novel's working title was Jungle Maid of Callisto, as noted in Locus #198 from January 30, 1977. The final title appears to reference Llana of Gathol, a book in Edgar Rice Burroughs's Barsoom series, which inspired Carter's Callisto books. The character Ylana was introduced in Mind Wizards of Callisto, an earlier volume in the series. The novel also includes an appendix that compiles background information from this and previous books.
