About “Palace Walk”
Palace Walk is a novel by Egyptian writer Naguib Mahfouz, the first part of his Cairo Trilogy. Originally published in 1956 under the title Bayn al-qasrayn, it was translated into English by William M. Hutchins and Olive Kenny and published by Doubleday in 1990. The Arabic title translates to "Between Two Palaces." The story is set in Cairo during World War I, beginning in 1917 and ending in 1919, the year of the Egyptian Revolution.
