Aoth and the Brotherhood of the Griffon rescue Tchazzar, the lost king of Chessenta and a powerful red dragon. After returning him to his kingdom, Tchazzar rewards the group and sends them back to the warfront. He then declares himself a god, behaving increasingly unpredictably in the conflict against the dracolich. Aoth becomes suspicious that the Brotherhood is being used as a tool in a dangerous game involving dragons, with high stakes that threaten entire kingdoms. The novel explores the growing tension between the group and Tchazzar’s ambitions.
