About “Burglar in Closet”

Bernie Rhodenbarr, a bookstore owner with a history of occasional high-rise burglaries, overhears his dentist, Dr. Sheldrake, complain about his detestable ex-wife, who keeps valuable diamonds in her apartment. Later, Bernie breaks into the Sheldrake apartment to steal the diamonds but is forced to hide in a closet when the ex-wife unexpectedly returns. She is killed by an unseen assailant, who also takes the diamonds. When Bernie emerges, he is accused of murder and burglary. He must find the real killer to clear his name and avoid being framed for crimes he did not commit.
