Nyxnissa so Dasheem returns to action as part of the bel dames, an elite group of government assassins. After a long holy war between Nasheen and Chenja ends, the country faces unrest as many soldiers are left without purpose. A key politician is kidnapped, and his death could start a violent power shift. Nyx is sent on a mission to find him, despite having left him to die before. She gathers a team of unusual allies to travel through a dangerous desert. The mission is complicated by the fact that killing is all she knows, and she is not supposed to kill this man. The story takes place in a world with aliens and political tension. The novel was published in 2012 by Kameron Hurley.
