三島由紀夫

1 series 4 books in order 1969–1971

Kimitake Hiraoka, known by his pen name Yukio Mishima, was a Japanese writer, playwright, actor, martial artist, and model. He was born on 14 January 1925 and died on 25 November 1970. Mishima was also the leader of an attempted coup d'état that ended with his ritual suicide by seppuku. He is considered one of the most important postwar stylists of the Japanese language. Mishima was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature five times in the 1960s. His works include the novels Confessions of a Mask and The Temple of the Golden Pavilion, as well as the autobiographical essay Sun and Steel. His political activities made him a controversial figure, and his far-right ideology and reactionary beliefs became increasingly evident from his mid-30s onwards.
