Winston Graham was an English novelist who wrote forty novels, including The Walking Stick, Angel, Pearl, Little God, Stephanie, and Tremor. His works have been widely translated and adapted for television and film. His most famous series, Poldark, was developed into two television series shown in 22 countries and also became a popular BBC series. Six of his books were filmed, the most notable being Marnie, directed by Alfred Hitchcock. Graham was a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and was awarded the OBE in 1983. He died in July 2003.
