Walter Rollin Brooks (January 9, 1886 – August 17, 1958) was an American writer best known for his children's books featuring Freddy the Pig and other anthropomorphic animal characters living at the Bean Farm in upstate New York. He also wrote short stories about Mister Ed, a talking horse, which were adapted into a television show after his death. Brooks' work focused on animal characters with human traits and behaviors, and his stories were intended for young readers. He was active in the early to mid-20th century.
