Rudolf "Rudy" von Bitter Rucker is a writer and mathematician who worked for twenty years as a Silicon Valley computer science professor and published several software packages. He is recognized as a contemporary master of science fiction and received the Philip K. Dick Award twice. Rucker has published forty books, including novels, collections, and non-fiction works on the fourth dimension, infinity, and the meaning of computation. He is a founder of the cyberpunk school of science fiction and also writes in a realistic style known as transrealism. His 2006 novel Mathematicians in Love is an example of a transreal novel. His early cyberpunk four-book series was republished in 2010 as The Ware Tetralogy. His 2007 novel Postsingular and the 2009 sequel Hylozoic returned to the cyberpunk style. Rucker's autobiography, Nested Scrolls, was published in 2011. His recent novels include Turing & Burroughs, Return to the Hollow Earth, and Million Mile Road Trip.
