Michael P. Kube-McDowell

Michael Paul Kube-McDowell was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is known for his science fiction novels, but also worked in other capacities, including composing music, writing for television, and contributing to a daily newspaper. He has written more than 500 nonfiction articles on diverse topics, such as space careers, "scientific creationism," and an award-winning four-part series on the state of American education. He was honored for teaching excellence by the 1985 White House Commission on Presidential Scholars. His short fiction has appeared in publications such as Analog, Isaac Asimov's Science Fiction Magazine, and The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction, as well as in the anthologies After the Flames and Perpetual Light. Three of his stories were adapted into episodes of the TV series Tales from the Darkside. He was an American writer.
