John le Carré

1 series 10 books in order 1961–2017

David John Moore Cornwell, known by his pen name John le Carré, was a British Irish author who wrote espionage novels. He was born on 19 October 1931 and died on 12 December 2020. He worked for British intelligence agencies, MI5 and MI6, during the 1950s and 1960s. His third novel, The Spy Who Came in from the Cold (1963), became an international best-seller and was adapted into an award-winning film. This success allowed him to leave his job and write full-time. His works, including Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, The Constant Gardener, and The Night Manager, were adapted for film and television. He took Irish citizenship near the end of his life, due to his opposition to Brexit. He was considered one of the greatest novelists of the postwar era.
