Arnold Lobel

Arnold Stark Lobel (May 22, 1933 – December 4, 1987) was an American author and illustrator of children's books. He is best known for writing and illustrating the Frog and Toad series and the book Mouse Soup. He also created the picture book Fables, which won the 1981 Caldecott Medal for best-illustrated U.S. picture book. In addition to his own works, Lobel illustrated books by other writers, including Sam the Minuteman by Nathaniel Benchley, published in 1969. His work primarily focused on picture books for children, and he was recognized for his contributions to children's literature.
