Gifts (2004) is a young adult fantasy novel by Ursula K. Le Guin, the first book in the Annals of the Western Shore trilogy, followed by Voices. Set in the poverty-stricken Uplands, it follows narrator Orrec, whose hereditary gift to "unmake" manifests late and uncontrollably, and Gry, who can communicate with animals, amid violent feuds between domains.
