Stormbreaker is a young adult action-adventure novel written by British author Anthony Horowitz. It is the first book in the Alex Rider series. The book was published in the United Kingdom on 4 September 2000, and in the United States on 21 May 2001. It became a New York Times bestseller. Over time, it has sold more than nine million copies worldwide. The book was included on the BBC's The Big Read and won the California Young Reader Medal in 2005.
